Reiki is an ancient form of hands-on-healing rediscovered at the end of the 19th century by Dr Mikao Usui. Reiki is a Japanese word, which means 'universal life force energy'. The practitioner works as a channel, an empty vessel, to allow this energy to flow through your body, allowing for balance and healing to take place.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A REIKI TREATMENT?

You all deserve to feel at peace with yourself and with those around you. This natural, gentle and non-invasive form of healing can assist your whole being, the physical, the emotional , and the spiritual  self in its journey to self-healing.

You lie or sit on a couch, fully clothed, with eyes closed to enhance relaxation. The practitioner will then place her hands on or above certain areas of your body to assist the flow of energy. A session usually lasts one hour, but longer or shorter sessions can be available.

AND WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS THEN?

The benefits Reiki healing can bring you are plentiful: a deeper feeling of relaxation and well-being; a sense of inner peace and clarity; increased energy; released of emotional or physical pain; deeper sense of connection; ...

PERSONAL ANECDOTE: What brought me to Reiki?

It was my first year in London when I attended one of the many mind and body spirit fairs...For somebody like me who didn't know much about healing then, well, there were lots on offer there. Quite a few stands were advertising Reiki, and giving taster sessions. So, after walking around trying to find someone who looked nice and reliable enough, I booked my-self in. I was a bit nervous, I must say...The session was't very long, and I felt an irritating sensation on my forehead, I nearly had to open my eyes and leave, but I sticked with it. Later on, I felt pretty good...read a bit of info I collected at the fair, and decided to book for a training, with a different person from the one I received the healing, though!!

I trained in Reiki 1 and 2 three times, with three different teachers, and even though some basic elements coexisted, all of them shared different teachings. Why training so many times, you might wonder? Well, I guess I was looking for something that I couldn't get from any of the previous teachers. I did my first Reiki 1 and 2 together in a week-end. Personally, I found this overwhelming, partly due to my poor self-confidence and partly to the great amount of information shared! So, a while later, I came across another teacher, and retrained. This time one week-end per level, with a minimun of 6 months in between and a set of case studies to do in order to get your certificate, which I didn't do for my second degree. OPS!! So never got my certificate. And, yes, I could have re-trained again with the same teacher...but I decided to wait, until I found my third teacher. So, I took my second degree again. I must say, every time my confidence grew bigger! I then continued with this same teacher and trained in advance Reiki 2, and slowly I am moving to teacher level...
